The Art of Leatherworking

Is it art, or is it craft? Yes, and yes, at James Culver's Working Leather Studio. This father and son offer a unique glimpse into the world of handcrafted leather goods in Tubac. James Culver's love for leather began in the 1960s, and he has spent his life perfecting his craft. Joined by his son Sean in 2017, the Culver family continues to carry on the tradition of creating high-quality, durable leather goods.

Father and son, James (left) and Sean (right) Culver, have run James Culver's Working Leather Studio together for seven years and counting.

Inside the studio, you’ll find many finished works influenced by the Southwest's vibrant colors and stunning landscapes. Their creations often feature a blend of classic European styles and modern elements, resulting in pieces that are as functional as they are beautiful. Each item is carefully crafted using premium leathers and attention to detail, ensuring a long-lasting and stylish accessory.
